Fitness & Holidays…

Should you be prioritising training when you’re in holiday mode?

First of all - please remember that one or two weeks off isn’t going to ruin your progress, looking at the bigger picture it’s a small amount of time. So long as you’re consistent over time then a little break isn’t going to do any harm.

So if your idea of a holiday is taking a well-deserved break, putting your feet up and simply enjoying whatever you’re doing then please do that & don’t feel any guilt.

Time to relax and eat lots of good food should 100% be prioritised on your holidays (as well as at home hehe).

However, if you’ve got a quiet morning and you know that doing a little home workout, going for a run or finding a local gym will boost your mood & make you feel good then go for it! But take the pressure off, most people will be fairly active of holiday with exploring, walking, swimming or whatever it may be that you enjoy.

On my recent trip to France, we’ve been doing a fair amount walking & surfing which has felt amazing and I managed to squeeze in a couple of sessions & a run in the first week (this stopped through the second week as the heat was a lot!). I trained purely because I’ve had the time and on the mornings when I’ve felt a little flat it’s given me a boost. Having an upcoming competition has been another reason that I’ve trained, if you’re in the same boat then you may also choose to stay on top of training!

All in all, whilst I’ll always advocate to dedicating yourself to training at home, if you’re on your holidays then be intuitive and do the things that make you feel good. Holidays should be about recharging your batteries!
