Where’s my January motivation gone? How to set goals that last.

As we near the end of January, the initial excitement of the New Year can begin to fade. That burst of motivation you felt at the start of the year? It might be starting to feel like a distant memory. You’re not alone. It’s so common to dive headfirst into January with all the big plans, grand resolutions, and promises to overhaul everything from fitness to eating habits, only to feel overwhelmed a few weeks in. Let’s take a moment to reset.

Here’s the truth & what I’ll never stop preaching: sustainable goals are the key to long-term success. If your New Year’s resolutions are starting to feel heavy, it might be because they were set too high or too fast. The idea of “New Year, New You” can be inspiring, but it can also be overwhelming. After all, we don’t wake up on January 1st as completely different people—we’re still us, with the same routines, challenges, and busy lives.

This is why I’m such a big believer in small, manageable changes. Instead of saying, “I’ll work out every day,” why not commit to moving your body two or three times a week? Instead of cutting out all your favourite foods, focus on adding in more nutritious ones. These shifts might seem small, but they’re powerful. They’re realistic, sustainable, and—most importantly—they work.

It’s not about perfection; it’s about consistency. The key is finding changes you can stick to, ones that fit into your life rather than forcing you to overhaul it. And when motivation wavers (because let’s face it, it will), having small, achievable goals keeps you grounded. It’s much easier to show up for something simple than to tackle something that feels like a mountain.

If you’re feeling a little lost, this is your reminder that it’s okay. You don’t need to wait until next January to reset, nor do you need to hold yourself to impossible standards. Focus on what’s achievable today, and let the momentum build from there.

This philosophy is at the heart of my online group training program, Her Power, which starts on Monday, 27th January. Her Power is designed for women who want to feel stronger, fitter, and more confident—without the pressure of perfection. It’s about building habits that stick, supporting each other through the ups and downs, and creating real, sustainable change. And the best part? There’s still time to join us.

If you’re ready to kick-start your fitness journey in a way that feels good and fits your lifestyle, I’d love for you to join Her Power. This isn’t about chasing quick fixes or falling into the all-or-nothing trap. It’s about empowering you to make changes that last—and having a supportive community cheering you on every step of the way.

So here’s to ditching the guilt, resetting your focus, and embracing the power of small steps. You’ve got this—and I’m here to help.
